Controls and Automation for Pacific Northwest Manufacturers: Components, Integration, and Engineering Support

Controls and automation work covers a wide range: a single sensor added to an existing process, a motion control upgrade on a production line, a collaborative robot integrated into an assembly cell, or a full automated system designed from the ground up. What these projects have in common is that the components and systems involved have to work together reliably, and the decisions made during specification and integration determine how well they do.

AOP Technologies has been distributing controls and automation components and integrating robotic systems in the Pacific Northwest since 2008. Our sales and engineering team works directly with engineering and operations teams on component selection, system design, and integration — not just product sourcing. We carry the components, represent the manufacturers, and have the sales and engineering team to support the application from specification through commissioning.

What We Carry and Support

Electronic Motion and Control Components

Control components for industrial automation: sensors, motion controllers, I/O modules, and related hardware for discrete and process control applications. We help customers evaluate control architecture against their application requirements, including precision needs, communication protocols, environmental specifications, and integration requirements with existing systems.

Representative brands: Compact Automation, Metal Work Pneumatics, Nason Sensors, Omron, AirTac

Digital and Analog Control Systems

Industrial automation applications involve both digital and analog control depending on the process requirements. Digital control systems offer precision, data integration, and flexibility for adaptive automation. Analog control remains the right choice for applications requiring continuous signal processing, lower latency, or simpler implementation in environments where digital complexity is not warranted. We help customers work through the tradeoffs for their specific application rather than defaulting to one approach.

Industrial Robotics — Kawasaki

AOP Technologies is an authorized Kawasaki Industrial Robot partner. Kawasaki’s lineup spans a wide range of payload and reach configurations for welding, material handling, machine tending, assembly, and other industrial automation applications. We support customers through robot selection, application engineering, and integration planning for Pacific Northwest facilities.

Collaborative Robots — Omron TM

For applications where human-robot collaboration is required, or where a full industrial robot cell is not practical due to space, budget, or operational constraints, Omron TM collaborative robots offer a flexible automation path. We are an Omron TM integration partner and work with customers to evaluate whether a cobot fits their application, facility layout, and safety requirements before a purchase decision is made.

Palletizing — REAPR System (BTB Solutions)

For end-of-line palletizing, AOP has a preferred integration partnership with BTB Solutions, manufacturer of the REAPR palletizing system. REAPR is a turnkey palletizing robot that requires no programming and no floor anchoring. For facilities that need palletizing automation without a complex installation project, it is one of the more practical options available. We manage integration and support for Pacific Northwest customers.

Application Support

Controls and automation projects succeed or fail at the integration level. The individual components are rarely the source of the problem. What creates difficulty is components that are not matched to each other, control architectures that do not fit the process, or robotic integrations that were not scoped against the actual facility and operational requirements.

Our sales and engineering team works through application requirements with customers at the design stage. That includes control system architecture, sensor selection and placement, robot payload and reach evaluation, safety requirements, and communication protocol compatibility. For customers who are upgrading an existing system rather than building from scratch, we work within the constraints of what is already installed.

If you are working through a controls or automation project and the technical requirements are not straightforward, that is the kind of problem our sales and engineering team is available to work on with you.

Stocking and Local Support

We maintain inventory across our Auburn, WA and Portland, OR locations. For automation systems where a failed control component creates a production stoppage, local availability matters. For longer-term projects, we can structure stocking agreements and procurement programs around your build schedule and ongoing maintenance needs.

Working With Us

Controls and automation work is not a transaction. A sensor that does not communicate correctly with the control system, a robot that was specified for the wrong payload, or a motion controller that was not configured for the actual process dynamics creates problems that show up after the sale and require engineering time to resolve.

We work through the technical details with customers before those problems occur. If you are working on a controls or automation project in the Pacific Northwest — whether it is a component upgrade, a robotics integration, or a full system design — contact our team at automation@aoptech.com or call 253-735-5449. We are based in Auburn, WA with a branch in Portland, OR.
